The Husband is a Protector
Life with Gwen and Joe

You’ve heard the saying that “boys will be boys,” but did you know that God programmed that masculine nature into boys who will one day grow up to be men: husbands, fathers and warriors for God’s Kingdom? God is a Protector of those He loves and the ultimate Husband-Defender for the saints. The Bible is full of references to men being strong, taking care of orphans and widows, and being courageous warriors. Imagine if all men accepted the charge to protect their families—not only from a physical perspective, but more importantly, taking care of their hearts and spiritual well-being above all. Joe Lara is, in Gwen’s words, “amazing,” because of how instinctive his protective nature is, always fully aware as he takes care of Gwen and the family. Joe sees this protection as his “purpose,” a further example of how God has ordained for men to find their fulfillment in courageously defending and protecting their families. With Joe, little things make a big difference, such as helping Gwen down the stairs or keeping a watchful eye in public places. The bigger things are even more important, however, such as getting to the bottom of heart-pain and making sure the spiritual health of the family is addressed. Godly men such as Joe also know how to diffuse situations with humor, making sure everyone has a focus directed toward the positive. Join Gwen and Joe as they ponder the concept of Godly masculinity. God’s purpose for the men provides security for the women and children and ultimately brings everyone closer as a family, creating a stronger unit for the Kingdom of God. It is a beautiful life!
