The Bible says to “set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2), and you have the ability to keep renewing that focus even in the midst of many voices, multiple distractions and myriad strongholds that call our name. Focus is key, and we owe it to God to train our minds to focus on the things that are important to Him rather than the things of this world that will pass away.
This lesson—part of the Constant Encouragement Series, Year 1 Volume 6—will guide you through common lies that take your mind and focus off of God. You will learn how to get rid of those lies by telling yourself the truth by setting your mind on things above. Gwen Shamblin Lara shares how to use your spiritual senses to be able to look for God everywhere and listen for Him. In addition to moving original music by Michael Shamblin (“Sail Away”, “Zion Dance”), a testimony from Erin Moore backs up Gwen’s message as Erin shares how she learned to renew her mind daily—from the time she wakes in the morning until her head hits the pillow at night. Erin has real-life scenarios that demonstrate what happened when she listed to lies versus the blessing of getting counsel and listening to Truth from the Spirit of God. In addition, she shares practical tips that she implemented to help her keep her mind set on things of God rather than things of this world!
