What Does It Mean To Be Humble?
Life with Gwen and Joe

Natural disasters strike unannounced and can change lives and communities in an instant. Such was the case when a tornado ripped a 50-mile path of destruction through middle Tennessee in March 2020. Buildings were leveled, lives were lost, and entire communities were devastated in the aftermath. Appropriately sober before God, this week’s “Life with Gwen and Joe” brings us the reminder that humility is required in this life—for we are not guaranteed tomorrow. The world goes about its days, making plans without understanding that—as James notes—“if it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” (James 4:15) Jesus Christ was born in humility, lived in humility, and died in humility at the hands of those who hated him. He could have had all the power in the world and commanded everything...yet he lived only for the will of God, expecting nothing other than what God allowed. Join Gwen and Joe as they take this opportunity to respond appropriately to this harrowing event—in heartfelt prayer for all those affected by the tornado, and in beautiful reflection on the humility that God requires and that Christ lived out. Romans 12:3 tells us, “Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.” May we all take this opportunity to ensure we are approaching every day with humility before the God of the universe! Welcome to a deep and incredibly moving episode of “Life with Gwen and Joe!”
