Teenage Role Models

Who are the teenage role models that your kids look up to? Are these examples pointing them to a closer relationship with God and you? The typical American teenager is not seeking to be close to God, thinks their parents “don’t get it” and even looks for ways to be independent from their parents. In many cases, they are making college plans to get away from their family and hometown! They think they want to experience the world for themselves and be free to make mistakes on their own without the watchful eyes of their parents. This is a sad but true reality, causing parents much frustration and great worry. The motive often is to separate themselves from their upbringing. But what if we told you that there is a place where the teenagers truly seek to know God, are genuinely interested in following the lead of their parents, are excited to be examples to their siblings and friends, and actually want to stay close to home — is that even possible? Thankfully, the answer is “Yes!” In this inspiring episode of the “You Can Overcome” show, host Gwen Shamblin Lara and co-host Candace Anger are joined by three young ladies who have bucked the trend of teenagers looking to shun their authorities and instead are embracing the opportunity to look to God for direction in their daily lives, which has made them happy, loving, and successful — much more so than they would have been without staying on God's narrow road. You will be blown away by what you see and hear, and you'll want to ask yourself the question, “If these teenagers can do this, can mine do that as well?” Yes, they can!
